HSBC's former Asia -Pacific Chairman Zheng Haiquan died on Sunday (August 28) at the age of 74.Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao Monday (August 29) mourned Zheng Haiquan and praised him to contribute to society.

According to a press release issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government on the 29th, Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao expressed condolences to Zheng Haiquan's death.

Li Jiachao said that Zheng Haiquan is an outstanding banker who has promoted the steady development of the Hong Kong banking industry for many years and has been respected by the industry.Zheng Haiquan is committed to contributing to society. He has participated in the work of the legal and consulting committees of different governments, and actively participated in public welfare affairs, contributed a lot to Hong Kong's cultural sports, sports, cultural relics, and social services.He was awarded the Golden Bauhinia Star in 2005 by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

Li Jiachao expressed his condolences to Zheng Haiquan's death. On behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, he extended deep condolences to his family.

Public information shows that Zheng Haiquan was born in Hong Kong in 1948 and suffered from pediatric paralysis at the age of three.In the 1970s, he was admitted to the Department of Economics of the New Asia Academy of the Chinese University and then went to New Zealand to obtain a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Oakland.

Zheng Haiquan joined the HSBC Finance Department in 1978, served as the general manager of the group in 1995, and served as the executive director of HSBC in the same year.In 1998, he was transferred to the vice chairman and chief executive of Hang Seng Bank. In 2005, he served as the chairman of HSBC Asia Pacific. In 2008, he was appointed as the executive director of HSBC Holdings.

In 2010, Zheng Haiquan retired as the chairman of HSBC Asia Pacific, continued to serve as the chairman of HSBC China and the chairman of Taiwan, and continued to be the executive director of HSBC Holdings. In 2011, he retired as the executive director of HSBC Holdings.

In addition to the pivotalization of the business community, Zheng Haiquan is also famous in politics.From 1991 to 1995, he was appointed as a member of the Legislative Council by the Governor of the Hong Kong Governor; from 1994 to 1997, he was appointed as a consultant of the Chinese government from the Chinese government; from 1995 to 1997, he was appointed as a member of the Administration Bureau.
