Mei Ruirui is regarded as "China Tong". In addition to having a master's degree in Chinese research, he has served as the Consul General in the US Consulate General in Shenyang. He also worked at the US Consulate General in Guangzhou and the US Embassy in Beijing.He once served as a special assistant to the Deputy State of Political Affairs in the United States State Council. He also served as a important position in China, the Vietnamese Department and the State Council Secretariat, and served as the China Research Assistant and researcher at the China Research Assistant at the Nixon Center of Washington Foreign Policy.

The South China Morning Post previously quoted sources as pointed out that the US executives decided to send Mei Ruui to Hong Kong in Hong Kong, which may avoid intensifying the tension between Washington and Beijing and Hong Kong.
